The media company New York Times sued Microsoft and OpenAI on Wednesday the 27th, claiming that the newspaper had improperly exploited millions of registered newspapers to train chatbots and give customers useful information.
The New York Times and this media outlet also revealed that OpenAi is a significant investor in the well-known criminal intelligence platform ChatGpt, which is currently rebranded as Copilot. Times writers and others have filed lawsuits to restrict automatic data collection due to copyright violations and AI services.

Why The New York Times is suing OpenAI and Microsoft
The New York Times alleges that Microsoft and OpenAi are trying to take advantage of the Times' substantial investment in consumer information. Times says they are attempting to create substitute products using Times content that is available for free. The Federal court in Manhattan received those allegations. OpenAi and Microsoft, however, assert that their AI solutions that have been trained represent either fair use or abusive use. Although the projected loss of The Times is currently known to be in the billions of dollars, the Times has not requested a precise amount of compensation for such a significant loss.
